Individual
Psychotherapy

Individual therapy (also referred to as “psychotherapy”) is a process through which clients work one-on-one with a trained therapist—in a safe, caring, and confidential environment. Together, we work to explore your feelings, beliefs, or behaviors; work through challenging or influential memories; identify aspects of your life that you would like to change; better understand yourself and others; set personal goals; and work toward desired change.

If you feel you are ready to begin one-on-one therapy, the first step is to contact me to schedule a brief phone call. This helps you get a feel for me as a therapist and ask me any questions prior to making an appointment. It also gives me the opportunity to get to know you, your struggles, and determine if I can help. If you and I decide we could be a good fit, we will schedule an initial intake appointment. This session allows us to get to know each other, and provide me with some background on yourself and the reasons you are seeking therapy.  I’ll also be able to orient you to the therapy process and answer your questions regarding services, fees, confidentiality, and my background.

I am interested in developing a collaborative relationship with you, one in which we tailor and decide together what kind of treatment would be best for you. At the outset of therapy, we’ll work on identifying what changes you want to make, and begin working on achieving those goals.
